Linen-Viscose Sand Washed – 200 gsm, 136cm – Plain Weave

30% linen / 70% viscose, 200 gsm, 136 cm wide, 15 x 15 plain weave, sand-washed and pre-shrunk, supplied on 100 m rolls. The wash is what defines this cloth: it removes the shine viscose normally carries and leaves a matte, slightly brushed surface.

Buyers use it for relaxed tailoring – soft jackets, wide trousers, jumpsuits, long skirts – and for home textiles where a washed look sells, such as cushion covers, throws and simple curtains. At 200 gsm it has body but the wash keeps it from feeling stiff.

Sand washing softens the yarn before it reaches you, so the cloth arrives with a broken-in hand and a low, even sheen. Creases fall out more readily than on an unwashed viscose blend, and the surface photographs matte, which is what most current collections want. Slubs from the linen stay visible.

For the same weight without the wash, the 200 gsm viscose twill is crisper and has a diagonal grain. If you want a washed all-linen cloth at a lighter weight, the 130 gsm air-washed linen is the equivalent treatment on a pure linen base.
