Pure Linen Slub – 285 gsm, 136cm – Slub Weave

100% linen, 285 gsm, 136 cm wide, 4.5 x 4.5 slub weave, pre-shrunk and rolled at 100 m. This is the heaviest linen we weave and the most irregular: the 4.5 count slub yarn is what produces the thick-and-thin surface.

At this weight the cloth stops behaving like shirting and starts behaving like a textile with structure. Buyers use it for upholstery-weight cushions, bench and stool covers, bag bodies, heavy throws, table runners and statement outerwear. It is also a common choice for buyers who want a visibly “raw” linen look rather than a smooth one.

The slub is a yarn property, not a finish, so the irregularity runs through the cloth and will not wash out or print off. The hand is coarse and dry with real weight, and the surface has a matte, almost rustic character that photographs strongly. Expect pronounced creasing and a firm fold memory.

If you want slub texture but a much lighter cloth, our 180 gsm three-fibre slub runs at 180 gsm; for a mid-weight cotton-heavy slub, the 180 gsm linen-cotton slub is the softer option. A heavy but flatter surface is the 230 gsm dobby.
