Pure Linen Dobby – 230 gsm, 136cm – Dobby Weave

100% linen, 230 gsm, 136 cm wide, 14 x 14 dobby weave, pre-shrunk and rolled at 100 m. This is the heaviest of our plain-family linens short of the 285 gsm slub, and the dobby is what gives it a small repeating figure rather than a flat surface.

Buyers use dobby linen where the cloth has to carry the design on its own: unstructured jackets, overshirts, wide trousers, jumpsuits, and heavier home textiles such as upholstery-weight cushions, tablecloths and bag bodies. At 230 gsm it holds a shape, so it suits pieces that should not collapse.

The figure is woven in, not printed, so it survives washing and does not add a print step to your cost sheet. The hand is firm and dry with good body, and the texture reads clearly even in solid colors. It creases like linen does, but the figure hides creases better than a flat plain weave.

If you want the same weight without the figure, our 185 gsm plain weave is the flat option; for an even heavier, more irregular surface step up to the 285 gsm slub. A finer figure in a lighter weight is available as 155 gsm herringbone.
