140 gsm 55% linen / 45% cotton plain weave at 136cm. Suited to lightweight — shirting, blouses and summer dresses. The plain weave gives a clean, flat surface that dyes and prints evenly. Blended so that cotton softens the hand and reduces creasing and lowers the cost against pure linen.

This is the plain-weave reference page for our linen-cotton range: 55% linen / 45% cotton, 140 gsm, 136 cm wide, 20 x 20, pre-shrunk and rolled at 100 m. The same construction is also woven at 155, 170 and 230 gsm in 55/45, and at 252 gsm in a 40/60 blend – so you can hold one weave and move the weight to suit the garment.
At 140 gsm buyers use it for shirting, blouses, summer dresses, pyjamas, baby and kids wear, and light home textiles. Move up to 170-230 gsm and the same cloth becomes trousers, jackets, aprons, uniforms and cushion covers. It is the single most versatile base in our blend range.
Cotton does two things to linen here: it softens the hand and it cuts the crease. You keep the dry linen surface and the slubs, but the cloth presses flatter and feels less scratchy against skin, which is why it sells into markets that find pure linen too crisp. It still breathes, and it still has linen character in the texture.
If you want a surface with figure rather than a flat ground, the 175 gsm twill and the 215 gsm jacquard are woven on the same blend. For a slub rather than a flat surface, take the 180 gsm linen-cotton slub.
